Introduction: Newton lives! These icons are for everyone who continues to use Apple Newton devices in their daily lives (program cuts notwithstanding) – or even for those who just wish they did! I myself have an eMate 300, and it is by far the coolest piece of technology I have ever seen. Granted, the upcoming Consumer Portable will probably be very cool as well, but I’ll bet you won’t be able to write or draw on the screen, and I guarantee you won’t get 16-24 hours of battery life!

This set will let you have a little bit of “Newton Life” on your desktop, whether you are lucky enough to own one or not. Some of these icons stem from the original Newton OS icons and some third-party software favorites, and some are newly created to make the set more usable with your contemporary system. We at the Iconfactory tip our hats to the unknown icon artists who contributed so much to the Newton universe, and we hope you will take this set as the tribute it is.

We’ve even included some sounds and desktop patterns to make your computer even more “Newton-friendly”. You can even get some of the fonts used in the Newton OS on the Web! Marty Pfeiffer of ScooterBoy Graphics has re-created Newton “Casual” as “Nu Casual”.
